You wished you had done internships.

You're glad you went to college.

Spending all this money.

Hologram Johnny Damon.

You're feisty.

Vegetarianism is not the only answer.

The internet has become commercialized.

A motorist honked at me for cycling.

Personal development

I like the sense that I'm going somewhere. What I see now is not everything that will ever be. I will grow and develop and improve. I will have a positive impact. I will read hundreds of books and cook fantastic meals. The best conversations I will have have probably not happened yet. These things make me happy. And what I have is already so good. If things can get better than this, I will really have it made. Things to be thankful for, before Thanksgiving.

NFL network misheard

The broom is off the Lions' rose. Pick sicks. He will go up and get it at 11 feet. Clocking was a little too rude.

Laundry!

Landry.

Go get it A-1!

cars as brogues

I surveyed the lot. 5:30 on a Wednesday, there was no doubt that R— would still be lurking in the office. Her car must be amongst the last picked-over remnants in the stew pot parking lot. Which one?

Consider the source. Micromanager, another one of those people who seems to have a work face they put on every morning, giving you the eerie feeling of talking to the face, not the person. There must be a car for her here, one that fits.

I saw it clear, like icy water in a steel sink: the Honda Accord nestled in a corner spot.

Moderate luxury without ostentation.
Modernity without hipness.
Practicality without ugliness.
Comfortably, tenaciously situated right in the middle.

That it was beige went without saying.

non sequitir thoughts on "King of Kong"

I was struck by Billy Mitchell saying early in the documentary that he once had someone draw an analogy for him. What kind of person doesn't even draw their own analogies, I asked myself. The analogy itself was also less than stellar. It should have been obvious then that he was crazy, but I gave him too much credit for having a family. I allowed myself the thought that the director of the documentary might be manipulating me, but it still seemed obvious that Steve Weibe was the better man. It did give me pause to wonder, however, why he wanted to be involved in competitive video gaming so much, when he had so much aside from that world, and the people in it were so petty and sort of small.

Night moves

-JD heads for Morocco tomorrow. Kinda scary, but you have to be excited for him. The whole program seems tailor-made for him. I know he'll make the most of it. Good luck brother!

-Played pond hockey with the Krajeski brothers today. Good times all around, although the skates didn't fit perfectly, hadn't seen those guys in a while. I didn't completely embarrass myself in the puck department either.

-Sweet party Saturday evening, in spite of the weird mix of age groups and the excess drinking. We need to do this stuff more often.

-Thanks to people who have told me that they read the blog. Appreciate it.

-You can't spend your life being scared of everything. Go out and live.

-We played 'fax machine' this evening. Great game.

Post-structuralism in roasted potatoes

Christopher Ricks told me:

The biggest difference between poetry
and prose is that the line endings

matter

in poetry.
