A workingman's burden

Is there anyone out there who realizes how dull it is to work for 40 hours a week, doing the same thing every day, again and again without changing? It is so terribly boring! Sure, a job is a job, and right now you're lucky if you have any kind of job, but that doesn't change the fact that work can often be extremely boring and stultifying. And what does it lead to? I don't feel that I am making the world a better place by coming to work every day and doing the same thing I do every day. Is there something noble about this? If there is, it doesn't appear readily to me. So you work somewhere for 40 years and retire. Is that all there is in life? This is a frightening proposition.

standings check

Slightly interesting things you can learn by checking up on the standings and team stats pages on NFL.com:

-The Chicago Bears (the Kyle Orton-led Bears!) lead the league in total points and are 4th in points per game.

-The vaunted Dallas Cowboys, featuring Marion Barber, Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, and now Roy Williams, are 8th in the league in points per game, trailing the Bears and the Jets, among others.

-The New England Patriots (blame Matt Cassell) are last in the AFC East in scoring. Yes, the same team that set an NFL record for points last year.

-The Green Bay Packers lead the league in interceptions returned for touchdowns with 5. No other team has more than 2.

-Each conference has 3 teams with 5 or more wins. AFC: Bills, Steelrs, Titans. NFC: Giants, Panthers, Redskins.

crash

So, the economy is in shambles. And I can't help but be selfish and wonder how it's going to affect me, and my friends, and my generation. How am I going to be able to get a real job? Will there be any jobs, anywhere?
Make no mistake, I'm confident in myself and my abilities. But how do I get a job if I don't have experience, and how do i get experience if I don't have a job? And where the heck do I get a good job anyways with history degree and really very little idea what I want to do?
It's times like these when you have to take a deep breath and realize that things could be so much worse. I have enough to eat and drink and a warm bed to sleep in at night. I have clothing, money in a savings account, and a job that I don't hate. So count your blessings. It's good to be alive isn't it?

Life is good, or is it?

So I have a job. Which I don't like that much. But I don't hate it. BUT, I'm looking for a better one. Where I don't have to wear earplugs.
